Most STP instability isn’t caused by faulty hardware — it’s caused by beginners tuning Hello Time, Max Age, and Forward Delay without understanding how the three interact, then wondering why the network gets less stable, not more.

If you’ve spent any real time staring at a show spanning-tree output, you’ve probably noticed something that looks almost contradictory

A “redundant” cable is often how this kind of trouble starts. Someone adds a spare Ethernet run between two switches

When an STP root port fails, a network with redundant paths built into it shouldn’t go down at all —

If you have ever spent an afternoon staring at a show spanning-tree output trying to figure out why traffic is

STP port misconfigurations rarely announce themselves with an obvious error message. A network runs fine for weeks, sometimes months, and

An STP root bridge election example is one of those things that looks abstract until you actually watch three switches

What is Bridge ID in STP? It’s the single value that decides which switch controls your entire Layer 2 topology,

If you have ever wondered why one switch in your network seems to control everything while the others quietly follow

The PVST election process is one of those topics that sounds simple on a slide deck and then quietly causes
